Lovers of history, the medieval castle of Langoiran is a must! You can admire this magnificent 13th century fortification located in Entre-deux-Mers, at less than 30 kms from Bordeaux. Langoiran castle was a real royal fortress under the reign of Charles VII and Louis XI. It was destroyed in 1650 during the Fronde period.

Classified as a historical monument since 1889, we can say that this castle is worth the journey. The medieval castle of Langoiran

The castle was built in the 13th century by Bernard Escoussan. Several powerful families succeeded in the decades that followed, until the purchase of the castle by Mr and Mrs Bibonne in 1972.

Much work has been undertaken by Mr Bibonne and has enabled the medieval castle to regain its splendor today. Its dungeon recently restored remains the pillar of the fortress. Moreover, it is, one of the largest dungeons in Europe.
